Care for Creation
Care for Creation reminds us that the world is God's gift to us. In the Book of Genesis, God entrusts humanity with the responsibility to care for the earth and all living things. We are called to be stewards of creation, using the world's resources wisely and protecting them for future generations.
In his encyclical Laudato Si', Pope Francis reminds us that our planet is our "common home" and that caring for creation is an important part of living out our faith. By respecting the environment, reducing waste and making sustainable choices, we show our love for God, for one another and for future generations.
At our school, we encourage everyone to play their part in caring for creation through everyday actions, both big and small. Through our environmental initiatives and learning opportunities, pupils develop an understanding of their responsibility to care for God's world. Together, we strive to build a world that reflects God's love and care for all people and all living things.
What does Care for Creation look like at St Mary's?
Children planned and designed our Prayer Garden. They encouraged donations from our parents and carers, and planted the garden. We have a space for quiet reflection that also increases the biodiversity of our school site!
