At St Mary's Priory Catholic Infant and Junior Schools, we are committed to ensuring that every child is valued, included and supported to achieve their full potential. We believe that all children should have access to a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum and be able to participate fully in every aspect of school life.
Our curriculum is planned in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and our SEND Policy. We work hard to create an inclusive environment where barriers to learning are identified early and appropriate support is put in place. We recognise that every child is unique, and we work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure that individual needs are understood and met.
We are committed to:

What should I do if I think my child may have SEND?
Speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance. They will listen to your concerns, discuss any next steps and involve the SENDCo where appropriate.
How does the school identify SEND?
We use teacher assessments, progress information, observations, discussions with parents and information from previous settings and professionals to identify needs as early as possible.
How will the school support my child?
All pupils receive high-quality teaching. Where additional support is needed, we follow the Assess-Plan-Do-Review cycle and provide support tailored to the child's individual needs.
Will I be involved in decisions about my child's support?
Yes. We work closely with parents and carers to agree support, review progress and plan next steps together.
How will I know if my child is making progress?
Progress is monitored regularly and discussed through parent meetings, reports and SEND review meetings.
What additional support might be available?
Support may include adapted teaching, small-group interventions, individual support, specialist resources, assistive technology and advice from external professionals.
Which specialist services does the school work with?
Depending on need, we may work with Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, specialist teachers, CAMHS and other relevant professionals.
How are pupils with SEND included in school activities and trips?
We are an inclusive school and make reasonable adjustments wherever possible to ensure that pupils with SEND can participate fully in lessons, educational visits, clubs and wider school life.
What if my child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)?
We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure that the provision outlined in the EHCP is implemented and reviewed regularly.
I am considering St Mary's for my child. Can I visit and discuss their needs?
Absolutely. We encourage prospective parents to contact the school to arrange a visit and meet with the SENDCo so that we can discuss your child's needs and answer any questions.
