School Uniform

Important: Change to uniform from September 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may remember us writing to you back in June of the last academic year and asking for parent opinions on potentially changing part of the school uniform (mainly the colour of our shirts). A majority of parents chose the option of changing our shirt colour from yellow/grey to white.

The main reasons given by our families were:

  1. the high cost of the yellow/grey shirt  compared to white shirts
  2. the difficulty in finding these colours compared to white shirts (which can be found in most supermarkets easily, and at a much cheaper cost)
  3. the varying colour of the yellow shirts available to purchase, means that the children do not all have the same shade of yellow
  4. White shirts would look neater and more presentable than the yellow and grey

As a result, we have decided that from September the following changes will be in place in both the Infant and Junior schools:

  • Our school shirt will change to white
  • No polo shirts will be worn (long or short sleeve shirts only)
  • Ties to continue to be worn in the Juniors and are now available for the Infant children to wear as well
  • Infants wearing ties is optional and down to parental choice

There of course may be the challenge that you as parents already own several of the yellow or grey shirts, and this change may add additional cost for you. To prevent this issue, these changes will be phased in. This means that there will be a transition period where the children may wear the old yellow/grey shirts until it is time for you to purchase new shirts- which will be white going forward. We would expect this transition period to last the entirety of the autumn term, and potentially into the spring term if needs be.

I have attached a photo of the white shirts that will be worn come September, and a photo of our school tie for your reference.

Please do not purchase polo shirts as these will not be permitted. In the warmer weather, short sleeved shirts are permitted.

Kind regards,

Mrs Reynolds

Deputy Headteacher
