Science - Melting Points

Solids and liquids can be changed from one state to another by heating or cooling.Heat melts a solid and turns it into a liquid, whilst cooling freezes a liquid into a solid. If ice (solid) is heated, it changes to water (liquid) -this change is called melting. If water (liquid) is cooled, it changes to ice (solid) -this change is called freezing. Water freezes at 0°C!

Watch the video and then can you write out the different substances and their melting points. For example, what did the video say that the melting point for chocolate and aluminium was? Can you work out and write down which one had a higher melting point between chocolate and ice? Then please draw a picture of ice, and then a picture of it after the process of melting... What does it become? If you can, why not try and freeze and melt a substance at home (with your parent/carers permission).

Have fun :) !
