The Catholic Church marked 2025 as the Jubilee Year, Pilgrims of Hope; a special year of prayer, renewal and joyful witness to the Gospel through acts of compassion, service and hope.

As a school community, we were delighted to take part in this global journey. Alongside thousands of Catholic schools and parishes around the world, we reflected on God's mercy, celebrated our faith and took action to bring hope to others.

Our Jubilee Pledge

We are delighted to share that St Mary's Priory is officially a Jubilee Pledge School.

This means we have committed ourselves to:

• Walking together as Pilgrims of Hope
• Putting Catholic Social Teaching into meaningful action
• Showing solidarity with our global family
• Promoting justice, peace and care for creation
• Encouraging every child to recognise their role in building a better world

Our pledge is not simply for one year. The values and aspirations of the Jubilee continue to inspire the way we learn, pray, serve and celebrate together as a school family.

Living as Pilgrims of Hope

During the Jubilee Year, Pilgrims of Hope, St Mary's Priory Catholic Schools embraced the call to serve as beacons of hope through a range of meaningful activities.

Children reflected on how they could make a difference in the world by writing their own Pledges of Hope, while the whole school community generously supported those in need by raising funds for Mary's Meals, Samaritan's Purse, the British Red Cross and CAFOD.

Every child, from Nursery upwards, took part in The Big Lent Walk, completing laps of Chestnuts Park to raise awareness, show solidarity with others and support worthy causes.

Our special Bear of Hope, Jude, also embarked on his own pilgrimage, accompanying classes on educational visits throughout the year.

Members of the Chaplaincy Team proudly represented the school at the Festival of Hope at Westminster Cathedral, where they had the opportunity to meet Cardinal Vincent Nichols.

We concluded this joyful Jubilee Year with a whole-school liturgy, attended by the Mayor of Haringey, giving thanks for all the ways our community had lived out the Jubilee message of hope.   

As Pilgrims of Hope, we continue to focus on prayer, compassion and action, working to make a positive difference both locally and globally.

Continuing Our Pilgrimage of Hope

Although the Jubilee Year has come to an end, the spirit of the Jubilee continues to flourish within our school community.

We remain committed to being signs of hope, compassion and justice, inspired by our faith and by the belief that each of us can make a difference in the world.

As Pope Francis reminded us, "A better world needs all of us."

We thank God for the many blessings of this Jubilee Year and look forward with hope and confidence as we continue our journey together as pupils, staff, families and parish community, united as Pilgrims of Hope.

The Jubilee may have concluded, but our mission to live as Pilgrims of Hope continues every day at St Mary's Priory.
