RHE and PSHE

At St Mary's Priory, our Relationships, Health Education (RHE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum is rooted in our Catholic faith and mission. We aim to help every child recognise their God-given dignity, develop a strong sense of self-worth and acquire the knowledge, skills and virtues needed to lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives. Guided by our school values of Respect, Compassion, Resilience and Ambition, we nurture pupils who are confident, caring and responsible members of society.
Through Ten Ten's Life to the Full Plus programme, children are supported to grow emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically. We want every pupil to develop positive relationships, make informed and responsible choices, understand how to keep themselves safe and healthy, and flourish as unique individuals created and loved by God.
Our RHE and PSHE curriculum is delivered through Ten Ten's Life to the Full Plus, a comprehensive, Catholic-centred programme approved by the Diocese and rooted in Church teaching. Learning is carefully planned and sequenced to build knowledge and understanding progressively from EYFS to Year 6.
Lessons are enhanced through our wider Catholic life and mission, including collective worship, Catholic Social Teaching, pastoral support, wellbeing initiatives, pupil leadership opportunities and enrichment experiences. Through strong partnerships with parents and carers, we work together to ensure learning is relevant, age-appropriate and connected to children's everyday lives.
Our pupils develop a strong sense of self-worth, understanding that they are loved by God and called to care for others. They learn how to build positive relationships, make informed choices, keep themselves safe and contribute positively to their communities. As a result, children leave St Mary's Priory well prepared for the next stage of their education and equipped to flourish in an ever-changing world.
Working in Partnership with Parents
At St Mary's Priory, we believe that the best outcomes are achieved when school and home work together. Parents and carers are their children's first and most important teachers, and we value the role they play in supporting their child's development.
Our RHE and PSHE curriculum complements the guidance, values and experiences children receive at home, helping them to grow in confidence, build positive relationships, stay healthy and safe, and understand their God-given dignity.
Parents can access further information about the curriculum through our RHE and PSHE Policy and curriculum documentation on the school website. Families can also view materials from the Life to the Full programme through the Ten Ten Parent Portal, which includes programme overviews, lesson summaries, videos and suggestions for continuing learning at home.
